4 Reasons to do a global internship

These are just a couple of reasons why you should consider doing your internship abroad:

  • It gives you a global perspective. Want to really understand a city? Being a part of a global internship is a definite way to get a pulse on a place, people, and way of life that no travel book could ever fully tell. Each and every place in this world has its own personality and set of intricacies, and it takes us discovering first-hand to find those out.
  • You’ll make worldwide friends. How great is that, and it’s so true! For a dedicated amount of time, you’ll go through each + every day with a group of new and very different people, getting to know the ins and outs of each another and all experiencing the same things together. That’s the making for solid friendships! And thanks to this global age, these friendships can go beyond the internship experience to last a lifetime!
  • You get to experience a different culture like a local. Tired of the same old tourist experience when you travel? Want to know what it’s like to actually live in a different city filled with its own customs, traditions, and everyday quirks? Then a global internship is an experience for you! It gives you the chance to try on a city from a local’s perspective. Get the scoop on where to get the best groceries, work on those language smarts (viola!), learn how to get around the town without Google Maps (gasp!) – and so much more! We promise you won’t regret it, and you’ll probably come home with a few learned traditions to share too 🙂
  • You’ll be taken out of your comfort zone, and that’s a good thing! One of the best gifts you can learn (and re-learn if you’ve already done it before) while being abroad is being comfortable amidst the uncomfortable. We know, we know, you’re probably asking why the heck you would sign yourself up for uncomfortable!? Well… because there’s a big, wide world out there ready for exploring, and fortunately, it’s not the same as you and your culture of origin. Instead, it’s rich in its diversity and offers a fresh take on how life can be lived. Which also means that there will be times and experiences that seem a bit odd to you, leave you missing home, or even wondering why you came there in the first place. Which is exactly the space that you realize that comfort is not based on circumstance (people, places, things) – it’s a perspective that you carry no matter where you are.
